New AQTF Standards introduced
The new Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Essential Conditions and Standards for Initial Registration and Continuing Registration of Training Organisations were approved by the Ministerial Council for Tertiary Education and Employment in late June for implementation from 1 July 2010.
The new standards will be presented to the Vocational Education and Accreditation Board (VETAB) at their meeting on 2 August for formal endorsement prior to their implementation in NSW. It is anticipated that audits conducted after 1 September 2010 will be against the new AQTF Standards.
The Conditions and Standards were revised to strengthen the AQTF and provide additional protection for all students undertaking vocational education and training in Australia.
Key features:
- Strengthened requirements in areas of financial viability, financial management, fee protection and governance conditions
- Compliance with the Conditions of Registration will now be audited in the same way that compliance with the Standards is audited
- An organisation must comply with the Essential Conditions and Standards for Continuing Registration at the date that it is approved for registration
- Non-compliance with the new Essential Conditions and Standards may result in a range of sanctions being placed on the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), which may include additional conditions being placed on an RTO’s registration, an RTO being de-registered, or an application for registration being rejected.
Implementation of three elements of the new AQTF has been put on hold until 3 January 2011. These are:
- Student fees paid in advance (Condition 5)
- the use of an AVETMIS compliant system (Condition 6)
- the use of a Unique Student identifier (Condition 6)
RTOs need to be compliant with all other aspects of the new AQTF from the date it becomes effective.
You can download copies of the new AQTF Standards from the training.com.au website.

A Bit of Fun …
Only takes about 2 seconds, it originally came from an orthopedic surgeon. This will confuse your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can’t. It’s pre-programmed in your brain!
1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6″ in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction. And there’s nothing you can do about it ….

This is a very big topic of conversation right now, Childcare costs are rising and rising fast. Many centres have waiting lists as long as your arm. How are the government going to assist out working popluation? Will this force our working families to enrol children into our primary schools early?
CareforKids.com wrote a fantastic post earlier this week which i have attached for you to look over
From the CareforKids webpage:
“The Soaring Cost Of Child Care
Is it forcing parents to send kids to school early?
Last week the Daily Telegraph printed a story which revealed some parents are sending their children to school early, even if they may not quite be ready, in a bid to avoid the exorbitant child care fees.
Bruce McDougall, on May 29, said that the “soaring cost of childcare is forcing thousands of parents to pack their children off to school before they turn five and can cope in the classroom”…
The article, based on an exclusive survey commissioned by The Daily Telegraph found more than 70 per cent of parents planned to send their children to school as soon as they were legally eligible, which seems fairly obvious if not a little low! Fourteen per cent, however, said this was because school was cheaper than childcare.
Childcare NSW president Lyn Connolly said it was “outrageous” that schools took so many 4½-year-olds despite advice they were not ready for school.
“We have had children go to school and return to us as late as July or August,” she said.
In Australia, school age requirements, as with so many other vital parts of Australian life, are not Federal but set by State, so it’s all very confusing in terms of when a child is at the right age for Kindergarten.
There is also a trend towards “holding back” children in Australia where it is quite common for children to turn 6 early on in their Kindergarten year. The fact that so many children of legitimate school age are “not ready” could also be due to the fact that Australia still has no compulsory pre-school system to prepare them for school…
Another issue on the government’s ever growing “To Do” list!”

Hi there,
Do you have a child in your care and all you both want to do is go and play outside but…. It just wont stop raining?
Instead of being bored and climbing the walls, why not use the weather to your advantage!
Here are some ideas:
Powdered paint
- Powdered paint is brilliant and super easy to use
- (if wether is sprinkling or light rain, otherwise you will be pulling your artowrk out of a neighbouring tree!
- Find a peice of paper or fabric, the larger the better
- Go outside under an unbrella or decking shake the powered paint over your paper/ fabic
- Go back under shelter and watch what happens to your work as the rain hits the fabric/ paper
- Once you have a wonderful pattern of raindrops bring under the cover to dry
- Now it is dry, hang up or cut out designs
- How wonderful would it be to make your own cloting patches, bags, canvass’s! Your only limited by your imagination
Cubbyhouses
- Ok so it is pouring outside why not go on an adventure…..
- Together create a cubbyhouse/ ship/ tent
- Use blanket, sheets, pegs, whatever takes your fancy
- This is a great space to read, draw or act out an adventure
- Why not even have dinner in your creation!
Puddle jumping & discovering the garden
- So it has been raining….. alot
- The ground is all muddy and wet
- Sounds like fun to me!
- Grab some old, warm clothes and head outdoors
- Look at the garden. Are there any changes since last time you looked?
- Where are all the insects, birds, worms?
- Does the garden smell different
- Jump in some puddles - talk about volume
Changes in our weather are a constant, why not use this time to encourage and discover maths and science concepts together!
